In this interview with Alice Noble, the singer-songwriter discusses her upcoming project, performing at the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, her greatest music influences, and more.
How did you get the name Alice Noble?
So despite my Instagram username being @alicenoblemusic (time for a change I reckon) people only know me as 'Ali' or 'Noble'. Alice Noble is what my mama named me.
Who in the music industry - past and present - are your greatest influences?
There's certain people that influence me in different way. Bruno Mars inspires me as a performer. I always say that I want his confidence on stage. I've always struggled with stage fright but I'm overcoming it and my mindset has played a massive role in this. People like Russ inspire me because of the amount of work he put into becoming who and what he is today. The fact that he never gave up truly inspires me. the power of never giving up is so important. I absolutely love Frank Ocean because his music is different and I love that. I love things that are different and intriguing. There's so many artists that have just influenced me in different ways.
Was there a pivotal moment in your life when you first realized you wanted to pursue music professionally?
I've always been very passionate about music. When I was younger I used to get told to stop singing because "you cant sing", and "you're never going to be a singer". Granted, my voice wasn't the best but Ive worked hard to be where I am now. I remember when I first started busking and getting very positive responses about my voice and feeling so content. As i developed my voice and style it just became the only thing I wanted. I did my first open mic and The Ritzy in Brixton, and despite the nerves, I just knew that this was the only thing I wanted, I just got such a buzz from the perfomance. But deep down, its always been this.
What's the coolest place you've ever performed?
I recently went to Bordeaux and met a few buskers. They let me perform a song with them. We were just outside the Grand Theatre and it was the most amazing place, felt on top of the world.
If you could work with any artist dead or alive, who would it be?
I'd love to work with Khalid or Bryson Tiller. I just get a feeling our voices would fit perfect together. Keep dreaming Ali.
Tell us more about your label "House Money Entertainment," what kind of music can fans expect this year?
I recently joined this amazing group of people and I'm excited to see what the future holds. They are so talented and supportive! House Money Ent. isn't just a label but a movement, we are family and we all help each other to grow and succeed. Everyone in the team is so unique and has their own style, put all these voices and personalities together and it just works so well. The people you surround yourself with are so important to your future. @Officialhousemoney on Instagram. Fans can expect an EP release this year which I am currently working on every second I get, with help from the team. I always keep people updated on what's to come through Instagram, I tend to just come up with plans out of the blue but I can't wait for everyone to hear my own music and see what I'm really about.
What would you say are the best benefits of being an independent artist?
It means I have so much freedom. Every second I get I can work on me and growing myself. I know what i want, I have visions and i shape them.
What's next for Alice Noble?
All you're going to see is daily growth. I am growing as a person and as an artist, I've just taken a big risk and handed in my notice at work (I'm a waitress) and I will now be busking and making music full time. Its going to be a fun journey and i feel so blessed to have people supporting me the whole way. Y'all aint ready for whats coming. Im 17 years old and i'm just shaping my future.
